The rain finally stopped in time for the Prep season to get underway as the Giants hosted the Phillies on Thursday night at Dean 3.

The Phillies jumped on top quickly in the top of the first against Giants hurler Matthew Raffi.  A walk to Keith Hallacy and consecutive hits by Billy Porter and Tatum Warren plated the game’s first run.  Raffi then settled in to retire the last two batters to end the threat.

In the bottom of the first, the Giants came out swinging.  Hits by Raffi, Alex George, Drew O’Connell, Ace Tyrrell, and Mike Canty helped the Giants take a 3-1 lead after one inning.

Raffi pitched a scoreless second and third inning, while the Giants plated four more runs in the second inning.  Mark Ishkanian pitched the final two innings for the Giants and kept the Phillies off the board.  The final score was Giants 11, Phillies 1.

Pitching duties for the Phillies were shared by FinnDaley, Nate Terrasi, Billy Porter, and Keith Hallacy.  All four boys threw the ball well and were throwing strikes.  Both teams were aggressive at the plate and swung the bats well.  Some great defensive plays were made by both squads as well, including a highlight diving stop and force at second by Phillies shortstop Aidan Austin.

Best of luck to both teams going forward.
