The defending champion Orioles began their season by hosting the Red Sox on Friday night.The fans were treated to a high scoring back and forth game.

The O's started off the scoring by getting 3 runs in the bottom of the first off Sox starter Derek Tevekelian who settled down to pitch a scoreless 2nd inning.

The first 2 O's pitchers Matt Schofield and Drew Peris held the Sox scoreless through two innings.

The Red Sox put up eleven runs in their half of the 3rd on some timely hitting and patience at the plate.

The Orioles put up a run in the bottom of the third to make it 11-4 Red Sox after 3.

In the fourth there was more scoring from both teams making the score 15-9 at the end of 4.

The defending champs put up 7 in the bottom of the 5th after the Sox scored 3 in the top. 18-16 after 5.

In the top of the sixth the Sox got 2 insurance runs off the bat of D TEV as he hit a two run shot over the fence in left center field scoring Jacob Brawn who had his first majors hit and finished the game with 2 hits. Nice job Jacob.

Tristan Davidson came in to close things out for the Red Sox and he got the last 4 outs via the strikeout. Impressive outing for Tristan. Final Score  Red Sox  20 Orioles 16

Both teams played really well and displayed great sportsmanship. We wish the Orioles the best of luck for the rest of the season.
