Red Sox Win 8-6

The Red Sox roared back from a 6-0 deficit to defeat a very good Royals team 8-6.  Izaiah Skiesto earned the start on the mound for the Red Sox.  He struck out the first two batters before the Royals George Kosheff singled; that combined with a couple of walks gave the Royals an early 2-0 lead.  The Royals padded their lead in the 2nd and were up 6-0.  But this Red Sox team does not give up and they battled back.   A clutch RBI single from Daniel Dros cut into the lead, then Sam Cunniffe stepped to the plate and crushed a long Grand Slam to deep center field and the Red Sox were back in it; down 6-5! Ryan Kelley ripped a lead off triple in the 3rd and singles by Nate Brodeur and Pablo Hernandez pushed the Sox ahead 8-6.

With the lead the Red Sox pitching took over.  Ryan Kelley pitched 3 spectacular innings in relief, striking out 9 hitters.  With the lead going into the last inning, the Sox turned to their closer, Sam Cunniffe to finish it off.  The Royals battled and had the tying run at bat, but Sam made a key defensive play for the second out and struck out the final batter to preserve the comeback win.

The three Royals hurlers all distinguished themselves; Max Mitchell, Brady O'Connell and George Kosher.

The Red Sox offense was led by the Cunniffe slam and Kelley triple as well as base hits for Brandon Curtis, Nate Brodeur, Pablo Hernandez, and Daniel Dros.

This was a terrific Little League game.  Best of luck in the season to both teams.
