The Tigers and Angels were back at it again.  After playing against each other last Friday night on Dean Field 1, they faced off on Field 3 Wednesday night and gave the fans a great show.  There was great pitching, timely hitting and some nice plays made in the field.

The visiting Angels struck for 1 run in the first off of rookie hurler Ryan Iagallo with an RBI single up the middle by Ben Griffith, scoring Matt Bergquist.  The Tigers evened things up in the bottom half after working a few walks and Iagallo coming around to score on an RBI single by Carter Marques.  End of 1st Inning:  Tigers 1, Angels 1

Dylan Finale came in to pitch in the 2nd and held the Angels scoreless. He was able to record 3 K’s around a walk and a single.  The Tigers erupted for 6 runs in the 2nd inning with a combination of walks and hits, highlighted by a 2-RBI double by Scott Hanam.  End of 2nd Inning:  Tigers 7, Angels 1

The Halos were not done fighting scoring 2 runs in the 3rd with another single from Ben Griffith and some aggressive base running.  Rookie Connor Mudd got the call from the bullpen and he was able to set he Tigers down in order with some great defensive plays behind him.  End of 3rd Inning:  Tigers 7, Angels 3

Veteran Scott Hanam pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the 4th for the Tigers, including 2 K’s.  Zach Bowley relieved Mudd in the bottom of the 4th and he was greeted with 3 consecutive hits; however, the Angels were able to keep the Tigers off the board.  End of 4th Inning:  Tigers 7, Angels 3

Luke Gallo got the call to close out the game with a 2 inning save opportunity.  Eddy Naras lining a single up the middle but was stranded on first when the side was retired.  Zach Bowley was back on the mound in the 5th, throwing strikes. The Tiger’s Dylan Finale singled but the Angels continued to make plays in the field to retire the side.  End of 5th Inning:  Tigers 7, Angels 3

The Angels were not done in the 6th.  They were down by 4 and looking to close the gap.  They scored 2 runs with hits by Connor M, Ben Griffith and Caleb Juaire but Luke Gallo dug deep and recorded his 3rd strikeout of the inning to secure the win for the Tigers.  Final Score:  Tigers 7, Angels 5

What a great game between these two AL rivals!  The Tigers went up early but the Angels never gave up and closed the gap before running out of innings.  Both teams are loaded with talent which should bode well for their seasons.  Good luck to both teams and maybe they will cross paths again in June…
