The Rockies hosted the Reds on Dean 1 Wednesday night and the fans would not be disappointed.  The Rockies brought out their 10 year old ace Jarrett Ellis to start things off against the heavy hitters in the top of the Reds line-up.  With some patience at the plate and some timely hitting the Reds jumped out to an early lead plating their first 4 batters on 10 batters before the side is retired.

The Reds countered with their 11 year old phenom Mikey Mitchell getting his first start in the Majors.  Mikey quickly showed why his coach has such faith in him shutting down the Rockies in 4 batters, 2 by way of the K.  After 1, Reds 4 - Rockies 0.

Ellis heads out to the bump for the second inning against the same top of the order and this time shuts them down.  Showing why the Rockies brass have such faith in the young man.  Ellis helps himself fielding 2 hot come-backers and retires the side in 5 batters.  But Mikey Mitchell is feeling it this night and after striking out the first batter.  Mikey then walks the next and with some heads up base running Logan Jolicouer finds himself crossing the plate on a passed ball to put the Rockies on the board.  Mikey however would not denied and strikes out the next 2 batters.  Reds 4 - Rockies 1 after 2.

Ben Hartelius now pitching for the Rockies and the next 2 innings go by fairly uneventfully on both sides with the Reds tacking on a few more runs and the Rockies getting one of their own.

Michael Deangelis aka Mikey D comes on in relief of Mikey Mitchell in the 5th inning and retires the side on 3 batters with 2 come-backers and a great play by SS Devin Endaz.  The Reds are able to get 2 more runs across the plate in the bottom of the 5th and send Mikey D back out to wrap things up.  End of the 5th, Reds 9 - Rockies 2.

After a lead off walk Mikey is facing Big Zach Robillard, who scorches a line drive that again Endaz makes a great play on saving a multi-base hit.  That was all Mikey needed and retires the final 2 batters by way of the K.

Final Score - Reds 9 - Rockies 2

Luke Reardon had a heck of a game at the plate and on the base-path going 2-2, 1 BB, 4 SBs, and 2 RS.

The Mikeys were feeling good on the mound and threw a combined 1-hitter.  Impressive outings!!

Good luck to both teams for the rest of the season.
