Red Sox 10 Nationals 2

Strong pitching, timely hitting and good defense carried the Red Sox to a 10-2 win over the Nationals in a game that was much closer than the final score.

Brandon Curtis was the Sox starter.  He pitched 3 strong innings and made 2 tremendous defensive plays to help himself out.  Ryan Kelley came on to get the final 6 outs of the game to preserve the win for the Sox.  Kelley struck out 5 hitters in his 2 innings of work and also contributed a good defensive play.  In addition to the fine defense by Curtis,  Sox catcher Sam Cunniffe gunned down a base stealer at second with a fine tag by shortstop Cam Moore.

The Red Sox offense was led by Curtis with 3 hits and 2 runs scored and Cunniffe with 2 hits including a grand slam roped to right center field.   The Sox got contributions up and down the line up;  Kelley was on base all three times up with walks, Liam Down and Brendan Dowd both had key hits, Cam Moore and Tyler Galdi each scored twice.

For the Nationals Chrisitan Prizio and Max Caputo did a tremendous job on the mound.  Offensively Kieran Kelly hit the ball hard both times at bat,  Will Tonelli and Patrick Babola had the other Nationals hits.

There is no doubt both teams have a lot of good baseball ahead of them this season.  Good luck to both clubs.
