What a great inter-league battle tonight at Dean 3 as the Tigers and Rockies faced off for their 3rd game of the season.  The temperature felt more like early April (not May) but the boys came ready to play!

The Tigers started with Noah Garvin on the hill and the Rockies struck for an early run on aggressive base-running by rookie Jack Alarie.  The Tigers ended the inning in style with a laser throw from Brian Kerekon in left field to pick off the runner advancing to 3rd on a Logan Jolicoeur single.  The Rockies had hard-throwing Alex Dooley on the mound and he set down the Tigers 1-2-3 with 2 K’s.  End of 1st Inning:  Rockies 1, Tigers 0

Dylan Fanale pitched the 2nd inning and the Rockies struck for another run by Jarrett Ellis who doubled.  The Tigers plated 2 in the bottom half with runs from Carter Marques and Luke Gallo.  End of 2nd Inning:  Tigers 2, Rockies 2

The Rockies threatened in the 3rd but the Tigers made the plays in the field, highlighted by some smooth plays by Kerekon at shortstop.  The Tigers scored 4 in the inning with 2 walks and 4 hits.  End of 3rd Inning:  Tigers 6, Rockies 2

Carter Marques came in for relief and the Rockies were not done. They scored 2 in the 4th from Zach Robillard and Logan Jolicoeur.  The Tigers had no answer in the 4th facing reliever Jack Alarie, stranding 2 runners.  End of 4th Inning:  Tigers 6, Rockies 4

Scott Hanam came in for a 2 inning save and held the Rockies scoreless in the 5th.  The 3rd out was a highlight reel play at 2nd base by Kam Duprey.  Alarie had another solid inning and got out of a jam with the bases loaded on a nice force play at 2nd base from the outfield!  End of 5th Inning:  Tigers 6, Rockies 4

The Rockies would not give up in the 6th.  With 2 outs, Joey Morana singled and eventually scored to cut the deficit to 1.  With runners on 1st and 3rd, the Tigers gathered at the mound for a quick meeting. They then executed their trick play to perfection, picking off the Rockies runner at 3rd attempting to steal home.  Great teamwork by Hanam, Marques and Iagallo!  Final Score:  Tigers 6, Rockies 5

The fans that braved the cold, saw a great game tonight.  The boys of both teams should be proud with the way they played. These teams are both built to do damage in the playoffs! Good luck on the remainder of the season.
