On a beautiful night for baseball Dean Park saw the Rangers host the Phillies on Thursday.  The Phillies bats started off with a bang from Keith Halacy who hit a 3-run bomb to deep right center field putting them up 3-0.  The Phillies sent youngster Drew Vincequere to the hill and started out strong pounding the strike zone and retired hot Rangers bats of late with 3 straight Ks.  Phillies 3 / Rangers 0 after 1.

The Phillies stayed hot in the 2nd inning and sent 12 batters to the plate in the top half of the 2nd inning and put 6 more runs on the board.  The Rangers still had no answer for Vincequere in their half of the 2nd and left the bases loaded.  Phillies 9 / Rangers 0 thru 2.

The 3rd inning saw the Rangers brass make the move to fireballer Joey Guidotti to try to quiet the Phillies bats.  They would no be disappointed and Joey struck out the side in order in both the 3rd and the 4th.  The Rangers went down quietly in the 3rd but got things going in the 4th.  With the bases loaded Chris Kyriacou launched a shot to deep right and cleared the bases with a 2-out / 3-run triple.

Joey G still in the game for the Rangers gave up his first hit of the season to hot hitting Halacy and walked the next batter as the Phillies showed grit and determination in trying to increase their lead.  Joey settled down however and struck out the next man.  After walking the next batter and now the bases are full of Phillies the stakes were as as high as they have been for Joey G.  He finds his comfort zone Ks the next 2 batters to end the threat.

The Rangers had no quit in them on this day.  After some really great at-bats from the Rangers and some very patient hitters the bottom of the 5th, turned out to be the innings for the Rangers sending 12 batters to the plate and pushed 7 runs across to take the Win.

Great game played by both sides and good luck to both teams the rest of the season.
