To quote Eddie Rabbitt, “I love a rainy night.”

The Astros travelled to Cincinnati on Monday night to play a makeup to a makeup due to rain.  “Isn’t it Ironic…don’t you think.”

The Astros started Colin Deruisseaux and the Reds countered with Liam Lawlor.  Both teams were on a win streak and looking to continue.   The first inning saw a lot of K’s with Colin striking out 3 around 2 base hits by Liam and Owen.  The bottom of the first was similar with Brayden taking a tough HBP and Tyler Boehnke hitting a single to load the bases but the Astros were unable to capitalize.

The Reds were able to plate a run in the 2nd on an RBI single by Nate Duerden.  Aaron Liu would manage a single in the 3rd as well but the Astros were still held scoreless.

The rain would start coming a little bit harder going into the 3rd so the Reds knew they had to capitalize quickly.  As Carl Spackler once said, “I don’t think the heavy stuff is coming down for a few hours…”  Owen was brought in the finish off the 3rd inning.

The Reds would plate 4 runs in the bottom half of the 3rd with Tristan Murgo starting the scoring after legging out a base hit.  Nate Duerden would again single in a run.  They would also plate 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th with patience at the plate and a base hit by Owen.  A Nice job by Dylan Coran for his pitching outing!

A leadoff single by Tim Donohoe in the 5th would start a potential rally but Antman would record a 3U to end the rain shortened game.  As the coaches folded up the tarps and tents, the players still circled the bases to finish off a fun night.

Best of luck to all players and wishes for a healthy enjoyable rest of the season.
