The Nationals in a brutal stretch of facing the leagues top teams took on yet another division leader for the third straight game as they hosted the American League leading Indians. It was the red hot Max Caputo getting the start vs the Indians Ryan White.

In the top of the 1st the Indians loaded them up on walks and a HBP as Max was having trouble going in and out of the zone. But he managed to work through it still getting 3 k's.

In the bottom of the first Ryan was ready for the challenge recording 3 k's of his own.
0-0 after 1

In the top of the 2nd the Indians would get on the board quick. A nice hit to the left side by Dillon Harrington and a steal got him in scoring position. Jackson Chamberlain followed with a great hit to right field driving in Dillon. Max settled down again getting a come backer for an out and getting 2 more k's.

In the bottom of the 2nd the Nationals got it going. After a walk to Andrew Blanchette and a steal. Back to back hits from Patrick Babola and Cameron Espino would drive Andrew in to tie the game. A few more walks followed to Teo Yilmaz, Kieran Kelly, and James Flanagan driving in 2 more. Max would then hit a bleeder out towards the pitching mound. Torin Narva, in one of the better defensive plays of the game, quickly jumped out from the catcher position, beat the pitcher to the ball, turned and raced to tag Teo just as he slid into home. Great play! Will Tonelli would follow with a hard hit grounder that found its way into right field driving in the final 2 runs of the inning.
End of 2nd 5-1 Nationals

In the top of the 3rd the Nationals turned to the second of their red hot pitching trio. It was Christian Prizio's turn. Ben Chamberlain was not afraid. He immediately ripped the first pitch into right center. Wanting to snag a double on the play, Ben kept running. But the nifty veteran Andrew in center would have none of it. He quickly fired a strike to Cameron waiting at second who would apply the tag for the out! Christian got to work getting 2 k's to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 3rd Christian would help his own cause with a nice hit to center. Andrew would walk. Followed by another hit from Patrick that drove in Christian. Both runners would advance on the over throw. Ryan dug deep and got a huge full count strike out which would end his day. A great Job by Ryan battling a tough lineup. That is when the Indians turned to their unlikely hero of the inning. Sohan Pasupuleti got the call for his first action of the season. He would quickly strikeout the next two National players ending the threat and keeping the game in reach.
End of 3rd 6-1 Nationals

In the top of the 4th Christian squashed any chance of an Indians rally as he just mowed down three straight hitters on K's in 10 pitches.

In the bottom of the 4th the Nationals kept the pressure on. Two walks would be followed by three hits from Max, Christian, and Andrew driving in 3 more runs. The Indians would turn to Charlie Kent who recorded a K and ended the threat.
End of 4th 9-1 Nationals

In the top of the 5th as time winded down the Indians would have one more shot at it. Kieran Kelly the veteran closer was in to "do his job". Although he was a touch wild today, letting two on base by HBP, he settled in nicely to strike out the side and keep the Nationals winning streak going.
Final score 9-1 Nats win.

Another great game by both teams. All these games are getting the playoff feel as the season winds down to final quarter of games. Good luck to both teams as they fight to position themselves for the playoffs!
