Red Sox 12  White Sox 6
The Red Sox met on what has become typical baseball weather this season; grey skies with intermittent rain.  However the conditions did not hold the kids back form playing a terrific ballgame.

The Red Sox sent Brendan Dowd to the mound to make his pitching debut and he was terrific!  "Tank" pitched a scoreless 1st inning and recorded 2 K's.  The Red Sox offense got going quickly in the bottom of the 1st.  With 1 out slugger Sam Cunniffe stepped to the plate.  "Sammy" laced a ball to left center and even the long wet grass could not keep this ball from rolling; allowing Sam to circle the bases for another Home Run.   The Red Sox got a big hit from Liam Dowd and scored 2 more in the first to take a 3-0 lead.
Brendan Dowd got 2 more big outs in the 2nd before turning the ball over to veteran Brandon "Packman" Curtis.  Packman came on to finish the 2nd inning and pitch an efficient 3rd; 1 1/3 innings on only 13 pitches. The Red Sox offense extended the lead with 4 runs in the second and 5 in the 3rd.  Key hits from Cam Moore, Brandon Curtis and a bases clearing double from Sam Cunniffe aided the offensive outburst. With the conditions worsening the 4 inning was going to be the last.
Daniel "Dunk" Dros came out of the bullpen to make his 1st appearance on the mound.  Dunk recorded 2 quick outs and was pounding the strike zone.  The White Sox however refused to quit! They  worked key walks before slugger Jack Wharton cleared the bases with a bounder to SS and some aggressive base running.  Dunk gave way to Red Sox Ace Ryan Kelley.  Ry came on to throw 3 pitches to slam the door on the White Sox uprising.
There were defensive gems in the game that warrant a "high five".  Ryan Kelley made two of them, with a fine play from the SS hole to throw a runner out at 1st and then as the catcher he gunned down a base stealer at 2nd base.  Sam Cunniffe also had a hi light play as catcher.  He pounced out from behind the plate to field a swinging bunt, and throw the batter out at 1st.
Good pitching, good defense and timely hitting are always a formula for success!
Good luck to both teams in the playoffs.
