In the final game of the season the Mariners came in as underdogs against the Cardinals. Both teams were excited about the playoffs coming up but wanted to finish off the regular season with a bang.

The Cardinal struck first in the top of the 1st inning on a bases loaded, base clearing single by Ben Lane. Pitcher Desmond Nichols bounced back after the 3 RBI hit to finish the rest of the inning unscathed.

The Mariners struck back in the bottom half of the 1st with two runs off of an Ian Taylor single. They loaded the bases shortly after but the rally was squashed with a Ben Miller strikeout of E.J. Tesiero-Miller.….. End of 1st … Cardinals 3 .... Mariners 2.

Both teams plated a run in the second. The Cardinals capitalized off of a single by Colin Marques while the Mariners scored off of another Ian Taylor hit.….. End of 2nd … Cardinals 4 .... Mariners 3.

Pitching dominated in the third inning as Boden Kuhnel shut down the Cardinals bats and Owen Parry-Cruwys kept the Mariners off the board.….. End of 3rd … Cardinals 4 .... Mariners 3.

It was clear going into the 4th inning that this would be the final inning of the game as darkness loomed. The Mariners needed a big inning from lefty Ian Taylor and they got it. He pitched around two walks and a Jack St. Pierre double to keep the Cardinals off the board for a second straight inning.

The Mariners entered their final at bats down by one run. Boden Kuhnel led off with a walk. Desmond Nichols then struck out after a tough at bat. Consecutive walks then loaded the bases for Josh Moody. Josh sprung at the first pitch and lined a single down the 3rd base line scoring the tying run. Tyler Jordan then stepped in with one out and the bases still loaded. He took three quick balls to run the count to 3-0 and then turned on a pitch, lining it into left field to score the winning run!.….. Final Score … Mariners 5 ... Cardinals 4.

It was a great ending to the regular season. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs!
