There is something about playing baseball on a summer like night under the lights.  It was a great night for the start to the back to back home & home series between the A's and O's.  Fans were treated to a great game.

With the tight schedules right before playoffs pitching was the name of the game.  They were pounding the zone on both sides and the ball was being put in play.  It was a great thing to see.

Starting pitcher for the O's, Matt Schofield was very sharp and efficient.  Striking out 5 batters in his two innings.  The A's were able to plate one in the first.  The O's came right back and got to the A's starter Colby Coghlin for 3 in the first with 5 Quality At Bats.  After 2 solid innings of baseball, O's held a 3-1 lead.  Coach Marshall & Coach Hamm looked to their bullpens to hold it down!

The A's were able to string together 3 hits in a row in the third and plated 5 runs in the inning.  The O's came right back and matched them with 3 hits in a row to plate 2.  We have a ball game here folks!  6-5 after 3!  With solid pitching and defense the O's shut down the A's for the next two innings.  The O's came back to tie it up in the 4th with some great base running by Max Diaz to tie it up 6-6.

We headed to the 6th tied up at 6.  Both teams were playing tremendous baseball.  The O's were able to get two quick outs.  The A's were in the need of a 2 out rally!  With two runners on Shawn Salt came to the plate and delivered the biggest hit in his young little league career with an inside the park home run to the right center gap.  (I am pretty sure he is still smiling).  Three batters later, Tim Marshall came to the plate and hit a shot to dead center for his second homer of the year.

The O's made some noise themselves in the bottom of the 6th.  Both Joe McKenzie and Josh Hamm smashed line drives to the right and left center gaps.  Jack Bates was seeing the ball well in center and make two amazing catches!

Final score, A's 12, Orioles 6

That game was so good, we are going to do it again Friday night!
