Great night for a baseball game and the kids did not disappoint with a thriller.  Khwaja Hussain started for the Red Sox giving up only 1 hit to Brady O’Connell over 3 innings striking out 7.  TJ Hutt started for the Royals going 3 strong innings and limited the Red Sox to 1 run while striking out 8 batters.

The Royals were first up and were able to get a couple runners in scoring position but weren’t able to get any runs across the plate.  Cameron Moore hit a long 3B in the bottom of the 1st inning and was driven in by Tyler Galdi base hit.  Giving the Sox a 1 run lead after the 1st and it would stay that way through the next two innings.

Cameron Moore pitched next for the Red Sox making quick work of the Royals in the 4th.  Jackson Mitchell pitched the 4th for the Royals.  The Red Sox first 5 batters reached base on 3 walks and 2 hit batters scoring 2runs until Jackson settled down striking out the next 3 batters to get out of the bases loaded jam.  After 4 innings Red Sox 3 Royals 0.

Royals finally got the offense going in the 5th when Wes Tuttle led off with a walk.  Followed by 3 hits in a row from TJ Hutt, Brady O’Connell, and Jackson Mitchell.  Jimmy Broderick made a key sacrifice hit driving in another run to give the Royals the lead.  Sox got back to back hits in the bottom of the 5th from Rylen Moore and Nathan Brodeur.  But Royals pitcher Maxwell Mitchell was able to strikeout the next two batters leaving the tying run on 3rd base.  After 5, Red Sox 3 Royals 4.

Brendan Dowd pitched the top of the 6th for the Red Sox needing only 10 pitches to strikeout the side.  Red Sox were not going to go down without a fight.  Ryan Aloisi got things started with a walk followed by a hit from Daniel Galarza putting both the tying and go ahead run in scoring position.  Closer Brady O’Connell came in and shut the door on the Red Sox come back striking out the final 2 batters to end the game.  Final score Royals 4 Red Sox 3.

Both teams played a great game especially with it being so early in the season and having limited practices.  Playing a full 6 innings in under 2hrs.  Good luck to both teams the rest of the season.
