Coolidge 1 was the place to be last night on a beautiful spring evening. The Red Sox were in town visiting the Astros and this game didn’t disappoint. A game that would see four lead changes before the final out!

The Red Sox would lead things off in the first against the Astros Tim Donohoe. Each batter worked the count in their favor for the visiting Sox. Tim would manage three K’s in the first but not before the Red Sox got on the board for run. In the bottom half of the first the Red Sox would send Nathan Brodeur to the mound.  Patient at bats and a key double by Brayden Mahoney saw the Astros answer with four runs of their own despite 3 K’s by Brodeur. End one: Astros 4 …Red Sox 1

In the second Cam Moore would take the mound for the Sox. Cam worked quickly and despite some lengthy at bats Cam would retire the side allowing no runs while mixing in a few strikeouts. In the bottom half of the second Tim would return for the Astros and once again the Red Sox would battle. This time Tim would escape unscathed surrendering no runs.  End of two Astros 4 …Red Sox 1

The Astros made a pitching change in the third sending Brayden Mahoney to the mound.  The Red Sox batters methodically worked the count in their favor and then Daneil Garlarza stepped to the plate and drove the ball past the second baseman for a three- run single. Having regain the lead the Sox would send veteran Brendan Dowd to the mound, but the Astros were ready. A key single by Cam Randazza and a two-run double by Ivan Wisuri saw the Astros retake the lead.  End of three: Astros 9 … Red Sox 6

In the fourth the Astros made another pitching change handing the ball over to Colin Desruisseaux who would retire the first three batters he faced. The Astros would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth expanding their lead. End of four: Astros 11 …Red Sox 6

With time left and the weather cooperating the Astros and Red Sox were able to get one more inning of baseball in. Back to mound went Colin, and like he had done the previous inning the Red Sox went three up, three down all by way of the “K”. End game: Astros 11 …Red Sox 6

Both teams battled hard from start to finish and made for an exciting game. Best of luck to both teams the rest of the season.
