It was misty windy spring evening down at the Coolidge Fields. With tarps over the dugout and almost fall like feel, the Royals were in town to visit the Astros. Despite the weather, the rapid pace of play made for an exciting six inning game.

Brayden Mahoney would get the call for the Astros in the first. The Royals batters would make him work early, but he would eventually settle in. With the bases loaded he struck out the final two batters he faced to keep the Royals off the board.  In the bottom half of the inning TJ Hutt would head out to the mound for the Royals. Ivan Wisuri would lead things off with a single followed by a shot to dead center by Colin Desruisseaux that cleared the bases. Despite only throwing fourteen pitches in the inning the Astros jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead. End of one: Astros 2 …Royals 0

With an inning under his belt back came Brayden riding the momentum from the first inning and he would make quick work of the batters he faced striking out three of the four batters in the inning. TJ would answer in the bottom half of the inning retiring the first three batters he faced. The third inning saw the same result! Brayden and TJ mixing up pitches and confusing batters. Both pitchers combined to throw only 19 pitches in the entire inning. End of Three: Astros 2 …Royals 0

To the fourth we go and despite a pitching change by the Royals, inserting Max Mitchell into the game, the results stayed the same. Brayden retired three of the four batters he faced. Max came on in relief and retired the batters he faced.  End of four: Astros 2 …Royals 0

With his pitch count total on the horizon Brayden would register the first two outs of the fifth inning before handing the ball over to Tim Donohoe in relief. Tim would get the very next batter he faced to end the inning. Max would come back out in the fifth for the Royals and help keep the Royals within two runs. The stage was set for the top half of the sixth with the Royals looking to get on the board..but Tim had other ideas. Tim would strike out the final batter he faced ending the game. End of game: Astros 2 …Royals 0

The weather was less than ideal but both teams battled from start to finish. It was a fun hard-fought game by both teams. Best of luck the rest of the way.
