The weather stayed fabulous this week and it was another fine night for some baseball at Dean Park. The Rangers played host to the Red Sox. Sam Cunniffe got the call for the Rangers and Jack Wharton started it off for the Red Sox.

In the top of the 1st The Sox would get a couple in scoring position but Sam was just too tough and would get 3 K’s.

The Rangers got to Jack quickly. Brandon Curtis started it off with a leadoff hit and was sacrificed over to third on a Sam sacrifice.  Brandon would score on a pass ball. Kieran would get on by a HBP and would score on a Ryan white hit and overthrow.

End of 1st Rangers 2-0

In the top of the 2nd Andrew Blanchette led things off with a hit and made it to 2nd on an overthrow. He would be driven in on a big Dylan Coran hit (remember his name in this one). Sam settled in for 2 more K’s and a grounder to end the frame.

In the bottom of the 2nd the Sox turned the ball over to Krew Duprey. His performance was nothing short of Dazzling all evening. He quickly got 2 K’s and a well fielded ball by Zak Salovardos at 3rd and throw across the field to end the inning.

End of 2nd Rangers 2-1

In the 3rd the Rangers handed the ball off to Brandon Curtis and he made quick work of the top of the Sox order getting 2 K’s and a fly out.

In the bottom of the 3rd Krew kept dealing with 3 more K’s.

End of 3rd Rangers 2-1

In the top of the 4th the middle of the Red Sox order would plate 3 runs on great hits from Krew, another RBI single from Dylan and his brother Coran and then another hit from Ben Chamberlain.

A fly out and two K’s later for Krew and the 4th was over.

End of 4th Red Sox 5-2

In the top of the 5th the Sox bats came alive. A lead off triple from Jack Wharton got it started and he was driven in by Max Caputo. Then with the bases loaded Dylan Coran unleashed a bomb of a triple to dead center clearing the bases. Sox would not stop there as Cam again drove in his brother with a hit. Jackson Chamberlain would walk and Ben Chamberlain would drive both of them in with a hit.

In the bottom of the 5th, as time started to get tight, the Rangers would have one more chance but the Sox defense was ready. After a lead off walk to Owen Parry-Cruwys Krew would get a K. Max would then make a nice catch at 1st on a pop up. Preston Langlois would then hit a deep fly to left but Cam Coran would get under it to make the spectacular catch to end the game!

It was a well played tight game and the final score in no way reflected this one. Best of luck to both teams in the playoffs!

Final Red Sox win 11-2
