On a beautiful afternoon made for baseball, the Cardinals hosted the Rangers with both teams playing a great and competitive game. Fun to watch great defense on display highlighted by Sam Cunniffe gunning down a would be base stealer at second, a great catch in left field by Brayden Crandell and a nice play at SS by Owen Michalowski on a laser off the bat of Sam Cunniffe.
The Cardinals got great pitching from their starter Anthony Santiago who pitched 2 scoreless innings while recording 6 K’s. Owen Michalowski and Liam Lawlor took it from there and pitched admirably to keep their team in the game while combining for 5 K’s along the way. The Cardinals closed with Des Nichols who pitched a scoreless final inning.
The Rangers countered with Brayden Crandell, who in his season debut pitched a great inning of no run baseball while striking out 1.  Equally impressive was Vincent Gauthier who pitched 2 solid innings and only giving up one run along the way. The Rangers finished with a combination of Tim Pratt Owen Parry-Cruwys and Kieran Kelly, who all competed at a very high level and did their team proud while the Cardinals were able to string together a few hits off nice pitches.
At the plate, the Cardinals were led by Anthony Santiago (triple, single), Owen Michalowski and Anthony Guarini (each with a single and both on base 3x), solid hits from Torin Narva (on base 2x), Ben Miller and Shane Abramowitz. Christian Prizio and Liam Lawlor also reached base safely 2x, while Mandy Kelmer and Ben Miller each had solid ground outs to the right side to drive home a run. Offensively, the Rangers were led by well struck hits off the bats of Vincent Gauthier and Owen Parry-Cruwys, while Sam Cunniffe and Aiden Austin both put together great AB’s to reach base safely 2x. Branden Crandell, Kieran Kelly, Ryan White, Ben Guglietta, Preston Langlois, and Tim Pratt also reached base safely in key AB’s to keep a constant presence on the bath paths all afternoon long.
Best of luck to both teams in the last regular season game and in the playoffs!
