Indians over Royals 6-5

The Indians and Royals met in the last game of the season, in a pivotal game to determine who would have home field advantage in their playoff game Sunday.                

In the top of the first, starter Cameron Marley stuck out the first two Royals swinging.   The Royals threatened to score when Jackson Mitchell singled and stole second.   Brady O’Connell then singled and stole second.   However, Marley was up to the task after forcing a pop out to end the inning.   In the bottom of the first, Jake Linton continued his great production in the leadoff spot by cracking a double. Jack Molter walked. Royals starter Ashton Glynn struck out the next two batters looking.   But, the Indians were able to score one run after walks to Jack Auen and Cole Hunt. 
End of One:        Indians 1 – Royals 0                 

In the top of the second, Max Mitchell walked and stole second.   Marley settled in nicely striking out two batters and forcing a grounder to short. Cole Hunt made a spectacular fielding play that was complemented by an amazing scoop at first base by Jack Auen.  In the bottom of the second, Royals pitcher Jacob Harrington dominated by striking out all three batters. 
End of Two:        Indians 1 – Royals 0                 

In the top of the third, Marley struck out the first batter, but walked the next two.   Charlie Kent came out of the bullpen and put out the fire by striking out the next two Royals. In the bottom of the third, the Indians offense exploded.   Jake Linton singled and stole second. Jack Molter smacked a double, scoring Linton.   Charlie Kent crushed a double, scoring Molter.  The Indians scored three more runs on walks to Jack Auen, Cole Hunt, Vismay Prasad, Cameron Marley, and Joey Cerchio.  
End of Three:     Indians 6 – Royals 0                 

In the top of the fourth, Jackson Mitchell scorched a line drive up the middle, but Charlie Kent showed cat-like reflexes and snagged it.    Brady O’Connell walked and stole second.  Kent closed the door on the inning by striking out the next two.   In the bottom of the fourth, TJ Hutt retired the Indians 1-2-3 with two strikeouts. 
End of Four:       Indians 6 – Royals 0                 

In the top of the fifth, the Royals offense rallied.   Eli Gray walked and stole second.  Cole Lonergan and Jimmy Broderick walked.   The Royals scored five runs after Jacob Harrington singled, TJ Hutt doubled, and Jackson Mitchell doubled.   In the bottom of the fifth, the Indians loaded the bases off TJ Hutt, but he escaped unscathed by striking out three. 
End of Five:  Indians 6 – Royals 5                 

In the top of the sixth, Brady O’Connell walked and Max Mitchell was hit by a pitch.  Stopper Jake Linton struck out three, and closed out the victory for the Indians.

This was a great game between two evenly matched teams.   The two teams meet again in the playoffs on Sunday in what promises to be an exciting game.
